Roro Patma Dewi Tjitrohadikusumo (26 January 1934 – 28 October 2008), known as Chitra Dewi was an Indonesian actress, producer, writer and director. Her name began to be known to the public when she starred in the film Tiga Dara with Mieke Wijaya and Indriati Iskak . Chitra Dewi is one of the actresses who became a director in the world of Indonesian films, which is still rare. Others are Ratna Asmara (Tuberose Night, 1950) and Sofia WD (South Storm, 1960). The first time he played in Tamu Agung (1955), but his name was only known through Tiga Dara (1956) with his 'younger siblings' Mieke Wijaya and Indriati Iskak. Apart from being in demand, the film also made it more successful and the game more mature. Through his own company, namely Chitra Dewi Film Production, he became a director in the film Horsemen of Tjimande, Dara-Dara and Bercinta Dalam Gelap, all of which were produced in 1971. In addition, he has been a producer in 2 x 4 Djam (1969) and Samiun & Dasima (1970). After starring in Tiga Dara, his games that were considered prominent were through Pedjuang (1960), Samiun and Dasima (1970), Bulan Above the Grave (1973), Kemelut Hidup (1977) and Gara Gara Muda Wife (1978). In this last film, she won the Citra Award for a female supporting actress at FFI 1979. When asked about her career as a producer she said that she had given up making films. His career as a player is still in demand 40 years after his first film, although not a major role. He also appeared on the screen. Due to his dedication to the world of film, he was awarded the Professional Loyalty Award in 1992 from the National Film Council.

Reminiscent of the Rocky film starring Sylvester Stallone, Rio has to use his fists to make a living as an illegal parking man. When the parking area is taken over by the local government, Rio loses his livelihood. Mursali then helps him by offering his taxi for driving at night. Again he has to use his fists on this new job, but when he meets Lia, she advises Rio to become a boxer. So he goes to Oom Eddy’s boxing gym and his career takes off. But Lia distracts him from his training and his fights. He also forgets about his girlfriend in the village, Sinta (Ayu Azhari). His losing streak begins and then Lia dies during an abortion. So Rio goes back to his village. Oom Eddy and Rio’s friends try to lift his spirit up again. Then Rio returns to the boxing ring, and is victorious once more.

Amalia SH is a lawyer from the Legal Aid Institute. He visits his best friend, Frans, who is being held for extortion. Frans doesn't want to be defended. Amalia is curious. From the results of his investigation, she found Frans's diary at his parents' house. From the diary it was concluded that Frans had been naughty since childhood, his father had kicked him out for stealing. He then lived a vagrant life, until he was accommodated to become a debt collector in a company. It is in this job that he becomes acquainted with and befriends Bambang and Amalia. Frans secretly loves Amalia but doesn't dare to tell it.
Pringgo, a wealthy businessman, catches his fiancée making out with another man. In a frustrated state, Pringgo has a car accident. According to the doctors who treat him, Pringgo has to undergo surgery to cure his paralysis. But he doesn’t have the courage and loses the hope to live. While he is treated in a sanatorium, Pringgo gets acquainted with Astuti, a frustrated girl. They finally get married, although in the beginning the relationship is based on pity rather than love. Mrs. Heru, Pringgo’s sister, and Mrs. Brasti, head of Pringgo’s household, oppose this marriage. Mrs. Brasti manages to harm Astuti, which is found out by Pringgo. Then Mrs. Brasti is fired. Gradually he realises how much Astuti really loves him and not for the money he has. Thus Pringgo finds his life spirit back, and has the courage to undergo surgery.
Guntur, a boxer, checks into a hotel on the day before his match, with his coach. In the hotel, Guntur stays in a room next to Udel and his wife. To secure victory, coach Hasan Sanusi poisons Guntur’s eyes. After dropping Guntur at the hospital, Tjepot, his coach, sees Udel, who resembles Guntur. He persuades Udel to fight in Guntur’s place. At first Udel resists, but he finally agrees, after Guntur’s girlfriend, also mistakes Udel for Guntur, by hugging him. At the end, his wife is also very proud of him. After the match when he manages to knock his opponent out, the two women begin to fight over him. The problem is solved when Guntur shows up.

While studying in the Philippines, Cokorde Gde Rai meets Angelo Reyes, who is planning to go to Indonesia to enhance his knowledge as a botanist. Before going to Bali, Cokorde takes him to sightsee, to Borobudur and other places. After a few days in Bali, Reyes’ girlfriend, Liza Presler, arrives. But there is a problem as Reyes has fallen for Aryani, sister of Suryati, who is the girlfriend of Cokorde. Liza tries to stand in between Reyes and Aryani, and she fails. At the end, Liza gets Raka instead, who initially proposed to Aryani, but failed as she had chosen Reyes.
Drawing from the novel, lenong (play) and the previous film (Njai Dasima I), this new film version has heightened erotic scenes considered the boldest for its time. But as mentioned by the director, the eroticism is meant to reveal the psychological aspects of the characters. Unlike the previous version, that mainly highlights conflict between love and witchcraft, this one features social and psychological conflicts. For example, how Dasima feels like an outsider with Edward Williams’s friends, or how she prefers leaving their house to live with her maid in the village. It also shows more background of the Samiun and Hayati characters - Samiun is a black market trader with a lot of debts and Hayati is a woman obsessed with gambling to get rich. When his debts are due and he is unable to pay, Samiun asks his friend, Puasa, to “rob” him while he is returning to their village with Dasima.
Marzuki has a relationship with Fatimah, but they do not get her parents’ approval because he is unemployed. He goes to the city to find a job, but then has an affair with Leila, an older woman. Because Leila causes his break-up with Fatimah, Marzuki turns to yet another older woman. But then he comes back to Leila’s arms. He gets a message from his mother that Fatimah is seriously ill. He goes back home and leaves Leila alone.

The letter tells her life story, about her husband, Yono, who had many wives and liked to sleep around. This prompted Rahayu to get a divorce and start an affair with her former lover, Jufri. But Yono is angry when he finds out about the affair. He fights with Jufri, but ends up being killed by Jufri. In panic, Jufri runs out of the house and is killed by an oncoming truck. Then Rahayu goes to her aunt’s house claiming that Yono has remarried. Frans, the maid begins to blackmail Rahayu but Rahayu later poisons her. All of this happens when Lestari was five years old.

The leader of the gang, Wikarta, kidnaps Bing’s wife and children to ensure that Bing will not confess to the police. Wikarta, is actually in love with Hayati, and takes the opportunity to win her heart. The victim of the robbery, Norman, decides to take matters into his own hands, and gangs up with Godfried, a reformed criminal. The police set their deadline: two times 24 hours. When they finally catch the crooks, it is proven that Bing was forced to join the robbers because he lost too much in gambling.

Purbaya is the son of Hamidah and Meureksa, who were murdered by Argasuta. Argasuta was in love with Hamidah and he sent Hasan Botak and Bagus Bantar after her. Upon hearing this, Hamidah turns hysterical and tries to kill Argasuta. But he survives, and Hamidah instead dies in the hands of his underlings. Then the story returns to the present where Purbaya takes his revenge on Argasuta. The film is filled with blood, castrated limbs, and exploding organs.
