Even after turning 30, Matsutaro Tokuda is still single and spends his days driving a white taxi. He likes to gamble, although he doesn't have a talent for it. However, there was a woman that fell in love with such a man...
Zatoichi is forced to kill a young man who owes a debt to a yakuza boss. Moments later, his sister Osode arrives with the money she earned (prostituting herself) to pay his debts. The bosses true motives are revealed and he attempts to steal Osode even though the debt is paid. Zatoichi realizes his grievous error and protects the girl from the gang. Osode and Zatoichi are caught in a dilemma as she must rely on her brother's killer for protection and Zatoichi wrestles with the injustice he has caused.
Daisuke and Shinichi are companions who frequent girlie shows and parties until they find out they are rivals bidding for control of a major resort hotel. During the bargaining sessions each accuses the other of misconduct because of their escapades, thus getting them in trouble with their families. Shinichi's ecology group and Daisuke's wife's women's lib movement become involved.

The humorous story of a group of likeable loser ("sucharaka") employees at an Osaka branch who learn that unless they band together and actually work(!), their company will go into bankruptcy. Miyako Chocho appears as the Company President.
