Biography
Bruno Baillargeon was born in Montreal in 1962. He earned a master's degree in comparative literature from the Université de Montréal in 1991. He was a script consultant and technical director on Le soleil et ses traces (1989), a fiction film co-directed by Louis Bélanger and Denis Chouinard. In 1990, he founded Productions Malachie. The following year, he wrote and co-directed a fiction film with Louis Bélanger entitled Les Galeries Wilderton. As a documentary filmmaker, he seeks to express human realities through a poetic and cinematic experience based on image and gesture rather than on discourse.

Three artists have shared a studio for over thirty years when one of them is hit by cancer. Meanwhile, they all keep working, expressing their thoughts and feelings by craft, gesture, art, and poetry. The film takes place within this formerly agricultural wasteland, now dominated by high-voltage power lines, where each passing spring is witness to the rebirth of these gardens in exile. A lush, uniquely pastoral tableau emerges, while echoes of the omnipresent city resonate off camera. Against this backdrop, a double menace lurks: that of the impending disappearance of this green space, to be replaced by asphalt, and that, more dramatic, of the disappearance of a generation of immigrants, born in the countryside but urbanized by fate, who have come here in search of their rural roots, reviving the ageold traditions of the land they left behind.
