A Danish movie about the life of Flemming and his best friend Kvik.

Four young criminals are planning a heist against a racecourse and in order to obtain a seed capital they rob a gambling den. They celebrate the successful heist by throwing a party but it turns out to be a lot of disagreement within the group.

A young woman of good family is driven into one of thieves and prostitutes and ends in suicide.

The two leading actors form a team traveling round performing as a professional dancing couple who has difficulty making ends meet. Ebbe Rode is the dreamer and Bodil Kjer the down to earth realist. Bodil Kjer expands her image to encompass the disillusioned woman reflecting the hard life she has gone through. Ebbe Rodes disappointed optimism turn into violence with dramatic consequences.

Consul Bergholtz is ill and will probably die soon. Family members gather at her bedside, each with the expectation of receiving a share of the impending inheritance. Among the heirs are her sons, the alcoholic editor Oscar and the homosexual lecturer Ejnar, as well as their pretty and recently divorced sister Esther. But when her grandson, the cunning and unscrupulous businessman Kurt, shows up, the intrigues are stoked. Kurt couldn't care less about good manners and cultural veneer; he simply takes what he wants.

Peter Vipperup is a tailor in a small provincial town. He has to work hard to make ends meet for himself and his family. One fine day, Vipperup's brother, Andres, returns home from America. He is a completely different type than the little Lapp tailor, and he has had good luck on the other side of the Atlantic. A few cunning minds in town have seen through Andres' wealth and devise a plan to secure a share of the wealth by appointing the tailor as director of a newly started bank - and then exploiting his naivety.

The priest on Snarø, Adam Valerius, is a widower for three years, and the young ladies in the parish are queuing up to become the next priest's wife. But when Adam's single housekeeper suddenly becomes pregnant, the small community gets talking, and soon the bishop is summoned. By a twist of fate, the Copenhagen actor Emil Flor, who is on his way to the island, is mistaken for the bishop, and he gets into the role and elegantly resolves the conflict. But then the real bishop appears...

Marie Jantzen is in her forties and, thanks to hard work and common sense, the owner of a successful dry cleaning business. Although she is successful and has money in the bank, she feels cheated by life, as she has neither a husband nor children. In an attempt to make amends, she responds to a marriage advertisement and comes into contact with the charming Georg Tingbo, who unfortunately turns out to have a few skeletons in his closet.

One Saturday evening, Trine prepares dinner for her boyfriend Hans. Unfortunately, Hans is delayed, as on his way between Frihavnen and Valby, he encounters a series of individuals whom he feels compelled to wait for in various ways. Back at the club apartment, Trine decides to transform the romantic dinner into a kitchen party for her friends.

A picture of the life of the Danish people from the late 1820s to the introduction of the free constitution in 1849. A fictional character, Rasmus Nielsen, travels around the country, first as a traveling teacher, later in other positions, and through his experiences we are introduced to the conditions of various population groups. The central figure in the portrayal of historical figures is the politician Orla Lehmann.
