Sathya (Navdeep), Guru (Abhinay) and Sathyan (Sathyan) are friends. Anjali (Sara Alambra), Meghna (Suja), Radhika (Madhumitha) and Anu (Mallika Kapoor) come in Sathya's life. The complication that arises, the tussle with Bhadri Narayanan (Prakash Raj) form the rest of the movie.

The story, set in the backdrop of Nallore, a small town in Thoothukudi District, revolves around Sub-Inspector Durai Singam, a brave and just policeman who serves in his hometown primarily to fulfill his father’s wish. Durai Singam settles every dispute in his town patiently with his words of wisdom and resorts to force only when the situation demands it. Kavya, a city girl who comes on vacation to Nallore, falls in love with Durai Singam. Erimalai, Durai Singam's bumbling colleague and friend, often accompanies him.

The film begins at a journey in train where Paari (Jeeva) looks back at everything. Cut to the beginning, one remote village in Ramanathapuram. Paari is a do-gooder helping everyone in need. A magnanimous man, he gives anything and everything to others if they ask for. Promising his dad (Azhagan Perumal) to earn more, Paari sets out to Chennai. But he faces more challenges. He meets a young girl Madhi (Poonam Bajwa) and falls in love with her. Some goons also cause trouble for Paari. Meanwhile, Sivamani (J D Chakravarthy), the dreaded but sophisticated don of the city is getting ready to marry Madhu. When the two stories meet, chaos ensue, it is now up to Paari and Sivamani to sort it out.

Maya Kannadi is a Tamil film directed by Cheran. It's his ninth directorial venture. He also plays the lead role with Navya Nair. Subbu, son of veteran producer Panchu Arunachalam is the producer. Ilayaraaja scores the music and Sarath Kumar, Arya and Malavika make cameo appearances in the film.

‘Power’ Paandi, once a legendary stunt master who ruled the world of film stunts in his prime years is now content in living a peaceful life with his son and grandchildren.
