A night-time chase. The dealers in their off-road vehicle are sweating bullets, because Diller and Kessel have them in their sights. A routine operation for the well-rehearsed duo, long-time friends who have always had each other's backs. And at the moment, Kessel is in dire need of Diller's support: his daughter suffers from severe epilepsy, her treatment is expensive and his marriage is in danger of falling apart. But Kessel knows he can rely on Diller and he loves his wife. So he is sure that everything will be fine. And suddenly an opportunity arises to help fate along: With a bag full of drugs, which Kessel discovers in the car of the fugitive dealers. Kessel hesitates only briefly and then lets them go. But instead of solving his problems, this bag plunges him into new, far greater conflicts - and takes his partner Diller and his family with him.

When the pictures from Bergamo in Italy go around the world in spring 2020, even non-medical people know what the word pandemic means. The previously unknown Coronavirus is spreading rapidly across the planet. Four days later, exit and contact restrictions also apply in Germany. Since then, the life of the Konstanz intensive care physician Dr. Carolin Mellau and her family on their heads. The female doctor becomes a member of the crisis team and is on duty around the clock to prepare the clinic for the impending emergency. As an anesthesiologist intubating those infected with COVID-19, she herself carries a high risk of infection. Meanwhile, her husband Stefan has to cancel his concerts as a musician, is no longer allowed to teach his music students and is suddenly sitting at home without an income. Teenage daughter Luzy is not allowed to see her Swiss boyfriend because the border is closed. She and brother Tim cannot go to school. But the worst case for the family is yet to come.

The lives of five teenagers intersect in a Swiss children's hospital. Their names are Benji, Michi, Kevin, Jonas, and Sascha. Four of them have cancer, and one is awaiting his diagnosis. The five ward pirates support each other. Together, they manage to face their uncertain future with courage.

In this acutely observed and sharply written debut feature from director Sylvie Michel, the contrasting parenting philosophies of a well-to-do divorcee and his immigrant cleaning lady becomes an angry debate over deeper issues of social class and cultural values when their teenage children disappear after a night on the town.
