Gabriel, Bobby and Costa are old friends from Altona, a multicultural hood in Hamburg. Just out of prison, Gabriel wants to turn his back on crime, but the others continue to operate as petty criminals. Friendships are tested as the trio navigate a dark world of mafia bosses and deals gone wrong.

Sister Rachel Taylor of Boise, Idaho is an eager young missionary of the LDS Church who has been sent on an 18-month long mission to Austria. Rachel finds herself having a hard time adjusting to her new cultural surroundings in the foreign country. Due to differences in opinion, she is also unable to get along with the companion missionary that was assigned to her by the church.

They are married in a civil ceremony, and now that Svea is pregnant, they plan to have a church wedding in Peter's hometown, the Alpine village of St. Josef. Peter has had enough; he's tired of being manipulated by his father again and is ready to return to Stralsund with his daughter Josefine and Svea.

Because not everyone in Weilershagen wants to accept that an asylum seeker, of all people, is bringing new impetus to the village. And Ahmad's toleration is all too easy to jeopardize. Anna and Bogdan's decision to say goodbye to each other, made with a heavy heart, is put to the test: Anna is pregnant and decides to have an abortion without involving Bogdan. As is so often the case, however, events in a small community such as the three women at the Pichlerhof cannot be kept secret. Burgi informs Bogdan. But Anna's strategy of silence also involves him in a chain of disastrous misunderstandings. Once again, Anna's thick head gets her into big conflicts.
