Story of the relationship between two women. Ines, a successful career woman, and Monika, whom Ines takes in after she has attempted suicide.

Berlin, December 1989. Dana Lech from Poland has been living with her German-Italian boyfriend in the western part of the city for several months. After the fall of the wall, her Polish ex-boyfriend Jan suddenly appears at the door and shows her the conflict with which she lives. She stands between the former and the new partner, between her past and the present, between her old homeland Poland and a Germany in which the border between East and West has fallen. Dana tries to find her own way between all these contradictions.

Divorce lawyer Peter Ullrich’s seemingly perfect life shatters when his wife Katja suddenly leaves with their children. To shield his reputation, he hides the split and asks his clerk Thomas - himself reeling from family turmoil - to care for the kids. Amid comedic and touching moments, Thomas bonds with Peter’s children while both men grapple with love, loss, and unexpected emotional upheaval.

Widow Clara and widower Ulf have an unusual commonality: Both mourn the loss of their spouses, but they cannot have them declared dead. Although there are no official doubts about the alleged suicide of Ulf's wife Anke or about the fatal glacier crash of Clara's husband Enno, the officer who complies with the paragraph insists on a corpse for the notarization - and that does not exist in either case. In order to at least support each other in letting go emotionally, Clara and Ulf set up an informal two-person self-help group after meeting them by chance. The self-confident perfumer and successful novelist soon awaken surprising feelings that go far beyond the usual grief work. However, the two are even more astonished to discover that their spouses seem to have certain similarities. A treacherous photo of Anke with Enno, her disappearance almost at the same time and the complicity in a fraud worth millions raise the suspicion that the departed have made off together.

Shy, sensitive high school outsider Jakob Moormann is miserably lacking immaterial support at home, where his strict father, uniformed cop Claas, and selfish mother are too busy breaking up to be there for him. Jakob focuses on class dream-girl Hannah, without much luck. His secret recording of himself masturbating gets into class bullies Henry and Erik's hands through the mother's thoughtlessness. The rascals blackmail Jakob and post the video on the Internet. After a raging lecture phase, dad stands up for Jakob, but his life is already wrecked more than anyone realizes.

The doctor manages to be taken seriously by Jonas, that is until he gets to know Emily, Marianne Wildenhahn's daughter, who goes to his class. Emily has a massively low academic grade, which she hides from her mother because of the doctor’s high standards. Emily falls in love with Jonas, and her sincere affection gives him the courage to love her back. Emily and Jonas become a couple, overcoming all obstacles.

Brigitta Nielebeck suffered a serious car accident in which miraculously escape unscathed. However, she has lost his memory. Doctors recommend her to spend time with family members. Therefore, make contact with Marie, her 16 year old daughter, who for two years living with a host family.

On her wedding day, Lisa discovers that her husband Felix is making her crossly unhappy - and vice versa. She moves out head over heels. While Felix quickly descends into homelessness, Lisa ends up in a shared flat with two men: Chris and Edgar. They are only friends with each other, so Lisa doesn't mind the visits from the ladies in the least. But then Lisa does have a thing with Chris - and is suddenly seduced by Edgar. Just as they are about to settle down with this ménage-à-trois, Felix is turned in to them by the police.
Jonas is ten and has fallen in love with Zoë. He invites her to his birthday celebration, and experiences conflict with his childhood.

At the age of six, Anne witnessed the murder of her parents. Twenty years later, the convicted perpetrator Marc Balthasar is released early for good conduct. Anne, now a popular children's book author, is greatly disturbed by this news.
