The film describes Xiuxiu, a daughter of an aristocrat,who falls in love with her cousin who is a talented sculptor. Nevertheless they experience all kinds of difficulties during the process of trying to get married.

With help, Dongshan left his hometown and went to Keelung to complete his studies. After graduation he is offered a job, but decides to return to take care of the family. Soon their uncle dies, and Yunchun collects her courage to show her feelings to Dongshan - she is hopin the two would go far away. But Dongshan thinks this would be cruel to Sanliu....
