Ayu Azhari, is an Indonesian actress, singer, model, and politician. She made her feature film début in 1984 in "Akibat Buah Terlarang". Director Teguh Karya, who saw her in the film, adopted her as a protégée. Her first role for him was as a minor character in the stage drama "Pernikahan Darah", in which the director badgered her for not carrying her voice. In 1986 she played in Karya's film "Ibunda". She took a small role in Karya's last feature film, "Pacar Ketinggalan Kereta" in 1989. In 1990, Azhari received a Citra Award for Best Supporting Actress at the Indonesian Film Festival for her role in "Dua Kekasih". By the early 2000s, Azhari was one of the highest paid television stars in Indonesia. In 2003, Azhari wrote a book on the dangers of voyeurism.

The story of the love of Doyok (Doyok) and Kadir (Kadir) for the sisters Rosa (Ayu Azhari) and Ira (Kiki Fatmala). The young women’s family does not approve of their relationships, so the two men try to figure out a way to get around this. Robby disapproves of Doyok, his only son, becoming an artist. He sends Doyok to Yogyakarta to continue his studies while staying at the home of Uncle Simon (Robert Syarief). Doyok talks his friend Kadir into posing as Doyok himself and going with him to Yogyakarta. Once Kadir is accepted into Simon’s household as Doyok, it becomes very clear that the discipline there is really tough because Simon was formerly a member of the Indonesian Armed Forces. In the meantime, Doyok meets up with Rina (Yayik Artikandi), his girlfriend, who gets him a job as a taxi driver. However, this masquerade is uncovered when Robby shows up in Yogyakarta to check on how his son Doyok is doing.
This film simply tells how Doyok and Kadir always have plenty of opportunities, but never quite succeed in making anything of them. Something always goes wrong. As soon as they set foot in Jakarta they have a problem with a restaurant owner. Then, when they do try and eventually get jobs, they encounter difficulties again. They are being chased by a crowd, when, in their attempt to get away, they end up in a storehouse full of stolen gold. They grab some gold, but when they try to get away with the ill-gotten goods, they fall into a river. The only thing they end up with is an angry robber intent on hunting them down.
Tris and Ayu are divorcing. Their children are bemused. Ayu’s father, who has been trying to reconcile the couple, somehow makes the conflict sharper as both parties want to take custody of the two children. When they find no agreement between them, the choice is given to the children. They decide to run away. Everyone panics. A naive village girl, Ani (Ayu Azhari), takes a job in a karaoke club in the city after meeting Susana (Yurike Prastica). Actually, Ani’s main reason for taking the job in the city is the hope that she will somehow meet up with Rudy (James Sahertian), a childhood friend. At the karaoke club, Ani attracts unwanted affections from the owner, Robert (Torro Margens). Ani escapes this dilemma when she does, finally, find Rudy. Together, they set up a small business selling ready-made clothes. Robert refuses to give up. He sends some men to beat up Rudy, and even assigns Susana to try to break up Rudy and Ani. Susana is successful. Ani then goes to work with Prasetyo (Willy Dozan), whom she met when she was in the garment business. The relationship between Ani and Prasetyo becomes serious, and they marry. However, Rudy, who is living with Susana, attempts to blackmail Ani with his knowledge of her past involvement with the karaoke club.

Lia’s father is imprisoned for murdering his unfaithful wife. Lia is also imprisoned for stabbing her boyfriend, Daniel who refused to take responsibility for her pregnancy. Once out of prison, her fellow inmate, Lucy, persuades Lia to become a prostitute but she refuses. Then Harun, a guy who has been pursuing her, kidnaps her sister, Nina, and asks for ransom. Love happens when Lia meets Handy, a wealthy future doctor. The relationship between Lia and Handy proceeds, although Lia hides her past, and also where she lives. Finally, when Lia pays Nina’s ransom by sleeping with a wealthy man she previously refused, Handy shows up. Handy knows Lia’s activity through Lucy. Together with her sister, she kills Harun, and also Daniel, the other kidnapper. Despite this, Handy still offers his love to Lia.
Samboja, a thug who controls an area, catches Ceking and his friends who are trying to rape two girls, Dyah Setiowati and Marlina. Samboja tries to help and is stabbed. Samboja is thought to be the rapist and is arrested. One of the victims, Dyah Setiowati, defends him to the police and he is released. But this incident makes him an enemy of the drug syndicate, who the rapist Ceking works for. Although his friend, Leo, who also works for the syndicate, defends him, the drug boss orders his men to kill Samboja. Dyah, the daughter of a cultural attaché, sympathises with him, especially when she finds out that he visits the daughter of Astri, the prostitute, in the orphanage.
