Following a traffic accident, a young man loses his memory and identity. Soon he will embark on a nightmarish adventure, confronting his darkest side.

On a small island, a saint is about to be canonized by the church. His icon has no face. According to local lore, one night the saint stepped out of the icon, visited the fair and scandalized the believers. He was ashamed of his behavior and never returned. After a disastrous weekend, a writer discovers that a painter had actually been commissioned to paint the portrait of a saint, but that his dissolute way of living led the locals to attribute to the saint the painter’s acts. The islanders resorted to crime, filling in the blanks of the icon. While seeking the truth, the writer dies in a dramatic way. A while later, his corpse is found. It has suffered abuse. A reporter undertakes to cover the story, but is faced with a closed society that refuses to speak.

Two friends (Katarina Didaskalou, Stefan Danailov) are separated when their village is divided by Communism, but they meet again 40 years later and begin having an affair.

An aged, above suspicion, bourgeois man known as ‘The Master’ lives isolated in a luxurious beachfront villa with his teenage daughter. In reality, however, he is involved in an illicit trade in antiquities, acts as a loan shark, and trades antiquities on the black market. The ‘Master’ has two henchmen, Mercury and John, who both commit fatal mistakes. Mercury falls for the daughter of ‘Master’, while John becomes obsessed with a prostitute. Both of them, as ‘sentimentalists’, must be eliminated.

In 1974, a group of 11-year-old boys spend the last carefree summer of their childhood, unaware that the world of grown-ups, with its loves, passions, prejudices and curses, is about to seal their fate. Aaron, Stelios, Sakis, Galanos and Verios, "the acrobats", are best friends. School has closed for the summer holidays and the children spend their time playing games, running errands, and riding their bikes. Life is a game, into which they channel all their physical energy and imagination. They practice their diving abilities in a big cistern. It is a game through which their special talents and competitive spirit unfold. One is good at balancing acts, another at diving and another at somersaults. It is in this neighborhood that Aaron will spend the most important summer of his life: a rite of passage from childhood to adolescence, a time for learning about love, jealousy and friendship.

Giannis is a subversive young man who rebels against any social institution or authority. Unemployed by conviction, he cohabits with his German friend Ilze, who supports him, helps his arrogant uncle , a fallen aristocrat, with his drug smuggling, and becomes friends with a Pontian Turk, Mustapha. The latter has entered Greece illegally and follows Giannis to Athens, hoping to find his Greek grandmother, who is none other than Giannis' grandmother as well. Mustapha steals the hearty of Ilze, whom he entertains with tales of his exploits, but the uncle turns them over to the police, and so they are truly in a tight squeeze. They get out of doing time, despite it all, and leave for Turkey, but they stray into Albania, where they are arrested and sentenced to manual labor.

The story takes place in a port controlled by Charlie the Greek and his criminal band. There are two things Charlie hates: drugs and homosexuality. But both are part of his life: he is madly in love with Joy who is a junkie, though he denies it even to himself. And regarding the homosexuality issue, his right hand, Tony, has an amorous relationship with a transsexual who is part of a group of trans-prostitutes. Ignoring Charlie's adamant orders, the transvestites work the streets around the port, with the help of Tony, who secretly supports them
