Ashok Kumar ( October 1911 – 10 December 2001) also fondly called Dadamoni in Bengali ,was an Indian film actor. Born Kumudlal Ganguly in Bhagalpur, Bengal Presidency he attained iconic status in Indian cinema. The Government of India honoured him with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award and the Padma Bhushan in 1998 for his contributions to Indian cinema. Ashok kumar was a Bengali hindu belonged to Kulin Brahmin. Kundan is a medical student but just before getting the degree he got implicated in a murder charge and cannot finish his degree and takes the wrong path of crime. His neighbor and childhood friend Shanti who Kundan grew up with was married to Kundan at the behest of her mother but they got separated after Kundan took the path of crime. Raja Saheb (Ashok Kumar) is a rich man, strict father to sons Virendra (Sunil Dutt) and Mahendra. One day, Mahendra has a big fight with his father and dies of shock afterwards. Virendra leaves home and falls in bad company with Pran. Later, Virendra falls in love with a poor girl (Nutan), eventually deciding to marry her. At home, a lonely Raja Saheb falls ill. When Virendra tells his father about his love, his father reveals his own past: He was in love with a poor girl, who died leaving a daughter (Padmini) behind, who dances on the roads to earn a living. Virendra decides to bring his sister home.

Anoop loves Roopa D'Souza, and will do anything to marry her. But Roopa has some doubts about him. Eventually, he does manage to convince her that he is worthy of her love, and she consents. Shortly after that Roopa's mom, Rosy, passes away; Roopa is involved in an accident, and hospitalized. When Roopa returns home, Anoop comes to visit her, and is shocked to find her in bed with Ravi. Roopa refuses to clarify, and it is up to Anoop to wait for Roopa to change her mind, or to marry someone else.

Dr. Gupta has an accident one night, injuring a woman named Geeta and brings her home to recuperate. He teaches her how to mingle with high society, dress and eat properly, and ensures the education of her son. In return for his decency and compassion, Jyoti prepares to marry Dr. Gupta. When her father arrives for the festivities, he recognizes Mukesh.

His marriage is arranged with the educated Neela (Veera) who ditches him at the last minute and goes to the city where she learns that she stands to inherit a fortune if she gets married within 8 days. After rejecting several suitors, she finally falls in love with Shamsher Singh, whom she meets in the city unaware that he is the person to whom she was earlier betrothed. Singh treats her badly and she sues him but in the end the two realise that they love each other.
