An orphanage resident, Nikita, flees justice to Moscow, where he meets Den, a rich orphan who offers Nikita a ticket to a better life in exchange for his friendship. Nikita agrees, not knowing what price he will have to pay for it.

Fro moves to her father after her fiancée has been conscripted into the army. Unable to find peace in her parents' home, the girl tries to let go and then to try and bring Fedya home whatever it takes.

Nikita is 16 years old, lives in the countryside, and dreams of being the life of the party. One day, Katya, a Muscovite, arrives in town, and he immediately falls in love with her. Nikita almost achieves this, but then his older brother, Seryoga, returns from the army six months early.
