XVII century, Bulgaria is under Ottoman rule. Four men break into the house of the shepherd Karaivan, raping and killing his wife in full view of their child, Maria. To protect his daughter and to enact revenge, he raises Maria as a son, teaching her to fight and kill. But as Maria grows up, she longs for a different life.

During World War II, a plane transfers Bulgarian antifascists from the USSR to Bulgaria. They jump with parachutes. The eighth paratrooper heads a guerilla group. In the group, there are doubts about the existence of a traitor. Initially, an innocent person is accused, but later the real traitor is caught and killed. Still, the most dangerous enemies of the guerillas are the colonel and the troops stationed in the nearby village. The battle between them and the guerillas is won by the latter who continue to fight for their cause.

Bulgaria, 1930s, small provincial town. Vyara Zadgorska returned to her hometown as a doctor after six years of study in France. Along the way she meets the landowner Assen Valchev, who is fascinated by her, but she is in love with someone else - the lawyer Kiril Donchev.

Sashko and Tanya are two lovers who want to go on a holiday at the seaside. In order to earn money, Sasho starts working in a brigade digging a well in the yard of Chief Krumov's villa. The workers accidentally discover the remains of human skeletons, a tin ring and several buttons, most likely belonging to participants in the September Uprising of 1923. To avoid complications, everyone decides to keep quiet. However, Sashko decides to break his silence and tell the truth, for which he pays with his life.

During World War 2, four soldiers are trapped between a harsh winter and the enemy. They need food and shelter, but this comes at the expense of their position. With no where else to turn, they begin an odyssey through the mountains.

The film takes us back into the times of the Second Bulgarian Kingdom - 13th century. The Bulgarian Emperor - Tsar Ioan Assen - is trying through several marriages to enlarge the State and to support the peace in it.

The adventures of a mischievous boy in his neighborhood during the summer break.

1920's. A young girl - teacher comes from the city to a small, poor village to teach the children. There is a medic in the village. Without being a doctor, he has taken up the noble deed to help people. The "miracle" of the village is two twins - brother and sister, Lefter and Leftera. Both of them resell village land. Everyone is feeling the pressure from the twins. This causes the eruption of a violent and bloody riot.

The film shows Bulgaria after the First World War - different destinies, different turns on both sides of the political barricade. A life full of contradictions and passion.
