The film takes place during the late 19th century in Bengal. During that period of time, Zaminders had absolute power and controlled every aspect of common people's lives. Rizwan is the only son of a very powerful Zaminder who resides in the rural part of Bengal. As Rizwan grows up, His father sends him away to the city for higher education, however Rizwan have no interest in heart to seek higher education as he aspires to become a great poet. As he progresses with his life in the city, one day his friends persuades him to go to a Baizi Bari's Jhumri Mahal, where all the Raqasa (Dancers) resides.

Shongram (struggle) is a romantic drama set during the 1971 liberation struggle of Bangladesh. A British Bengali on his death bed is interviewed by a daring London reporter, where four decades later, Karim is able to recall and finally share his past. We are transported to 1971, when Bangladesh was still East Pakistan and a young Karim (a Muslim) is in love with a beautiful Asha (a Hindu). The peaceful village life is suddenly interrupted by war and Karim must grow up fast to survive in an era where mass killings and abduction was common. He must also carry out his duty and revenge before he can finally search for Asha.

On a tiny river island in southern Bangladesh, life is tough, and every day feels like a fight to survive. The villagers live in fragile homes, battling floods, poverty, and the indifference of the world around them. Like insects and spiders in their small, overlooked corners, they cling to life, love, and hope, finding small victories and quiet courage in the face of constant hardship.
