Biography
Alkis Papastathopoulos is a filmmaker from Greece who holds an MA degree in Film studies of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. They are a Sundance Alumnus and have directed five shorts. Their film “en flicka” premiered and won a special mention in the Outview Film Festival. In 2014 their experimental short “en pojke” premiered at MIX NYC Queer Experimental Film Festival and continued its journey in many international festivals (Berlin Porn Film Festival, Pink Screens FF, Leeds Queer Film Festival, Queer City Cinema, Outview FF). In 2018 their short film/music video “Gomenaki” won the Best Music Video award at the IndieMemphis Film Festival. Later that year they won the HBO Europe award for the Best TV Series project at Midpoint TV Launch for the dramedy series in development “Sleepover” they co-write with Maria Hatzakou. In 2019 “Sleepover” was selected to be part of Sundance institute’s New Voices Lab becoming the first European series ever to participate in that lab. Their most recent short film is Honeymoon (2023).

Tilos Weddings
In the year 2008, the mayor of the island of Tilos in the Aegean Sea agreed to perform the first gay and lesbian civil marriages ever held in Greece. The film follows the story of these two civil marriages through visual material that was shot ad hoc, but also through footage from the Gay Pride of the same year, Press conferences and other demonstrations regarding the same topic.

A documentary that takes a look at the production of BEFORE MIDNIGHT. As the film starts, Richard Linklater, Julie Delpy and Ethan Hawke are sitting around as filming has just completed. From here we get some terrific stories as they talk about the characters as well as what they bring and take from them. We also get footage from the filming of the movie where we get to see how the actors and director work together to try and build up the scenes.
