Alexander Shapiro (born January 1, 1969, Vladivostok, USSR) is a Ukrainian film director, screenwriter, and producer of Jewish descent. His creative output includes several dozen feature films, series, and music videos. His films have been featured at international film festivals, including the Berlinale, the Cannes Film Festival, the Bucharest International Film Festival, the Warsaw International Film Festival, the Kinoshok Open International Film Festival of the CIS and Baltic States, and others. He has been shooting feature films since 2000. His first film, "Cicuta," attracted the attention of film connoisseurs. Shapiro is a leader in arthouse and auteur cinema in Ukraine and Europe.
