A couple and their teenage son eke out a living on a hilltop, doing the laundry for local hotels, despite the intermittent water supply. Their simple life is overturned by the arrival of a father-and-daughter team of diviner and well-digger, who promise to bring an end to this precarious existence by finding a source on their arid hill. But ultimately, these newcomers quench a thirst far greater than than the simple need for water.

In hopes that they can help each other, a psychiatrist arranges for a suicidal young man and a terminally ill woman to meet.

Before the Liberation, during the years of the exiled Bulgarian revolutionaries in Romania, the Major and the Prime Minister once shared the same ideals, the same home, and even the same woman. Today, the Major orchestrates a conspiracy to overthrow the government led by his former friend, the Prime Minister. The head of state must be assassinated, and the Prince – dethroned. The woman is part of the plot, but she will try to prevent the fratricide.

Alexander returns to Bulgaria from Denmark for his mother's funeral. Instead of confronting his estranged relatives, he embarks on a journey across Sofia with his sister, Kalina. Together, they wander through the city, possibly in search of their long-absent father. Along the way, through chance encounters with old friends and visits to cherished spots from their past, the siblings rediscover the closeness they once shared.

The story follows the encounters of Victor and Tanya at the end of their junior year. The two of them grow closer and closer during the summer vacation, despite the danger surrounding them.
1951. Because of her husband, Velichka turned out to be an “enemy of the people”. In order not to “kill the future” of her son, she became a State Security agent. Disobedient men are taken out for armed resistance in the forests; they are named “Forest Men”. Velichka, whom they trust for her husband's sake, betrays them. When she realizes her sin and tries to resist, the repressive machine crushes her…

The film consists of three, at first glance independent, stories and follows three situations developing simultaneously within a few days. Narrated parallel, they gradually reveal the connections between the members of a family and, at the same time, the disintegrated human communication between the characters - husbands and wives, brothers, parents, children. The threads of the separate events become interwoven so that at the end they are joined into a common, mutually connected and mutually dependent existence, branded by the lack of value and higher meaning. Sloth and inertia, suppressed spiritual impulses and torments are as concrete and tangible as the wind and their consequences are irreversible - a moment after which there is no time for "later". No one is innocent, no one is guilty and still each one of the characters is deeply shaken at the realization that he or she could have lived their days in a different way...
