In the aftermath of the 1967 defeat, four young Lebanese try to figure out their places in a society whose rules seem to have changed. It proved to be an extraordinary anticipation of the civil war that would engulf the country while the film was being edited.
Set against the backdrop of the Israeli invasion of Lebanon, the film explores themes of land, honor, and survival through the story of a family caught between fleeing their homeland or submitting to life under occupation.
Madeleine Tabar, a young Christian university woman, wants to marry (Abdul Majeed Majzoub), a professor at the university where she studies, but her brother refuses this engagement... The film also deals with the Lebanese war at the time of the Israeli invasion of Lebanon.
After the assassination of the Palestinian artist Naji Al-Ali in London in 1987, the film flashes back to the stops that he went through in his life, starting from his displacement with his family to Lebanon, to his work in Kuwait, to his return to Lebanon during the Lebanese civil war.
