Biography
Agnès Godard (born 28 May 1951) is a French cinematographer. She is most famous for her long-running collaboration with filmmaker Claire Denis. For her work, she has won a César Award. Godard originally studied journalism, but switched to film after several years, graduating from La Femis (then known as IDHEC) in 1980. Her first project as a cinematographer was Wim Wenders' 50-minute Room 666, made for television. There she met Claire Denis, who was working as Wenders' assistant director. Godard spent much of the 1980s working as an assistant camera operator or focus puller on films by Wenders, Joseph Losey, Peter Greenaway and Alain Resnais. She also served as director of photography on a short film directed by legendary cinematographer Henri Alekan. Her first collaboration with Denis was the director's debut feature, Chocolat, where she served as the camera operator; she has been Denis' regular cinematographer since 1990, when the two worked together on a documentary about Nouvelle Vague filmmaker Jacques Rivette made for the French television series Cinema, de Notre Temps. Living the Light: Robby Müller
For her extraordinary film essay, Living the Light, Director and Director of Photography Claire Pijman had access to the thousands of Hi8 video diaries, pictures and Polaroids that Müller photographed while he was at work on one of the more than 70 features he shot throughout his career; often with long term collaborators such as Wim Wenders, Jim Jarmusch and Lars von Trier. The film intertwines these images with excerpts of his oeuvre, thus creating a fluid and cinematic continuum. In his score for Living the Light Jim Jarmusch gives this wide raging scale of life and art an additional musical voice.

Golden Door
The story is set at the beginning of the 20th century in Sicily. Salvatore, a very poor farmer, and a widower, decides to emigrate to the US with all his family, including his old mother. Before they embark, they meet Lucy. She is supposed to be a British lady and wants to come back to the States. Lucy, or Luce as Salvatore calls her, for unknown reasons wants to marry someone before to arrive to Ellis Island in New York. Salvatore accepts the proposal. Once they arrive in Ellis Island they spend the quarantine period trying to pass the examinations to be admitted to the States. Tests are not so simple for poor farmers coming from Sicily. Their destiny is in the hands of the custom officers.
The Dreamlife of Angels
Isa and Marie bond while working in a French sweatshop and soon begin sharing an apartment that Marie is watching for a hospitalized mother and daughter. Marie, hoping to avoid a life of struggle and poverty, takes up with Chriss, a nightclub owner whose most attractive asset is his money. Isa recognizes the ultimate futility of the relationship and tries to keep Marie away from him, but her interference puts their friendship at risk.
