Armant du Mont, a wealthy landowner in Nantes, confronts his troubled past when a young man seeks work on his estate. Despite initial tensions, the young man's hard work and a budding romance force Du Mont to confront his own history.

After a car accident, singing surgeon Dr Dawid Retief learns he will be blind within two years, while his daughter is paralyzed. In order to raise money for Marietjie's treatment in the United States Retief starts doing concerts.
